After all the Thanksgiving decorations were put away it was time to get out the Christmas tree. Yes, it is artificial. We always used to go out and pick out our tree and bring it home (the whole deal) but when we moved to Arizona no one bought real trees. They died within a week and were a fire hazard. When we bought our fake tree I was sad---but not anymore. When I could see how easy it was to pop up with lights already on it my sadness turned into joy. No bundling up kids, driving to the tree lot, getting it on the roof of our car amidst crying kids, getting it in the tree stand, putting lights on it so that we can finally do the fun part of decorating it. NO, NO--pop it up, fluff out the branches, light a pine scented candle and begin the decorating!!!!! I sat on the couch handing the kids ornaments while Christmas music played in the background. It was perfect!!!

Amen to that...I resisted the fake tree too, but the fire hazard thing makes it all worthwhile. I saw one of those videos where they light one and fire, and no thanks!
CUTE new haircut on Miss B! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
btw. there are cousins that aren't going to get gifts because no one is telling me who I have.
Okay...I wish I would have also known about your p.j. tradition on Thanksgiving...ugh. I always do new jammies but we open them on Christmas Eve. THe kids always know it's p.j.'s but they are good sports. My mom always did this same tradition and so did Chad's mom. Oh well. I don't know if I ever told you that we did the wise men gifts last year! Oh my, it put a whole new feeling on Christmas. We will continue this tradition from here on out. I love it! I also found a great article written by a clergy man all about what the 3 gifts were, their use in Christ's time and their symbolic meaning. I taught it for FHE and now the kids have a greater understanding about the gifts and their meanings. Love you for sharing this with me! Missing you!
